Alive! 2018 Fees

Student Matriculation Fee: $240

All new students will be assessed a one-time Student Matriculation Fee. The Matriculation Fee covers services and programs for new students including orientation/registration programs, Week of Welcome activities, and extended orientation events.  Also included during each orientation program are meals, give-away items (such as t-shirts and pens), university publications, and parking permits for the duration of the program. 

Parents and Guests:

The parent/guest fee for the programs is $195. This fee covers meals, overnight accommodations in the Stephenson Residence Hall on campus, a parking permit, university publications received during the program, workshop presentations, staffing, and other program costs. 

If you would like to upgrade your room to a single occupancy room, you can indicate the choice on your reservation form.  New Student Programs will assess an additional $20 for the upgraded room choice.

If parents/guests would like to opt-out of overnight accommodations, you will receive a $55 discount.  The Opt-out accommodations must be selected at least 5 business days prior to the start of the orientation program you were registered for in order for the discount to be applied. We will not be able to grant refunds if you choose to opt-out of overnight accommodations at check-in.

SIBLINGS:  While we do not encourage younger siblings or children to attend the Alive! orientation program, we understand certain circumstances may require children to attend.  All siblings MUST be accompanied by an adult parent or guest.

Siblings (ages 13-17)        $140
Siblings (ages 6-12)          $70
Siblings (ages 0-5)            No charge  
Please note that the sibling charge DOES NOT include housing.  If you plan to stay on campus, please upgrade your room to the single occupancy option so your child has a bed to sleep on.

Change of Session Fee:

You can change the session you are registered for as long as there is still room in the requested session.  Changes can be made by calling the Office of New Student Programs at 509-335-4242.  Please note a $10 change fee will be assessed each time you change your orientation session.

Refunds and Cancellations:

For a FULL REFUND, you must call to cancel your reservation at least 5 business days prior to the start of the orientation program you were registered for. 

You will receive a PARTIAL REFUND if you call to cancel after the 5 business day deadline.  A $70.00 administrative fee will be assessed against your refund total.

NO refund will be given if you do not call to cancel your reservation or if you cancel the day of the start of your program. Refunds for opting out of overnight accommodations cannot be granted unless requested 5 business days prior to session check-in.

Payment Options:

New Student Programs accepts VISA or MasterCard via our online reservation system.  

Checks or Money Orders should include the WSU Student ID number.

Bill Your Student Account
Your Student Matriculation Fee will be charged to your student account prior to the first day of classes and can be paid at the beginning of the fall semester 2019.  To ensure your student fee is paid prior to receiving a refund of any extra aid, we encourage you to authorize financial aid to pay all changes in your my.WSU account. 

Steps to Authorize Financial Aid to Pay All Charges:

  1. Click “Financial Account”
  2. Click “Account Services” drop down menu
  3. Click “View Student Permissions”
  4. Select “Grant Permissions”
  5. Read Student Permissions Agreement
  6. Click “Next”
  7. Check “Yes, I have read the agreement”
  8. Click “Submit”
  • Guest(s) reservation fees cannot be billed to the student account and must be paid no later than at time of check-in.
