Alive! Orientation fees
Student matriculation fee: $250
This one-time fee will be charged to your student account and can be paid along with tuition at the beginning of your first semester. (You can pay at time of registration if you prefer.)
The matriculation fee covers services and programs for new students including orientation/registration programs, Week of Welcome activities, and extended orientation events. Also included during each orientation program are meals, give-away items (such as t-shirts and pens), university publications, and parking permits for the duration of the program.
Paying with financial aid
To ensure that the matriculation fee will be automatically covered by your financial aid funds, authorize financial aid to pay all changes in your myWSU account.
Steps to authorize financial aid to pay all charges:
- Click “Financial Account”
- Click “Account Services” drop down menu
- Click “View Student Permissions”
- Select “Grant Permissions
- Read the student permissions agreement
- Click “Next”
- Check “Yes, I have read the agreement”
- Click “Submit”
Parent and guest fees cannot be billed to the student account. They must be paid no later than at time of check-in.
Change of session
A $10 change fee will be assessed each time you change your orientation session.
Changes can be made by calling the Office of New Student Programs at 509-335-4242. You can change the session you are registered for as long as there is still room in the requested session.
Refunds and cancellations
For a FULL REFUND, you must call to cancel your reservation at least 5 business days before the orientation program you were registered for.
You will receive a PARTIAL REFUND if you call to cancel after the 5 business day deadline. A $70.00 administrative fee will be assessed against your refund total.
NO REFUND will be given if you do not call to cancel your reservation or if you cancel the on the day the program starts. Refunds for opting out of overnight accommodations cannot be granted unless requested 5 business days prior to session check-in.
Parents & guests
Parent/guest fee: $140
This fee covers meals, a parking permit, university publications received during the program, workshop presentations, staffing, and other program costs.
For parents and guests attending summer Alive! (which takes place in June and July), overnight accommodations in the Stephenson Residence Hall on campus are available for an additional $55. You can also upgrade your room to a single occupancy room, you can indicate the choice on your reservation form. New Student Programs will assess an additional $30 for the upgraded room choice.
New Student Programs accepts VISA or MasterCard via our online reservation system.
Can’t afford to attend? The Office of New Student Programs has limited funding available for those who demonstrate financial need. Please contact us at 509-335-4242 for more information.
While we do not encourage younger siblings or children to attend the Alive! orientation program, we understand that certain circumstances may require children to attend. All siblings MUST be accompanied by an adult parent or guest.
Siblings ages 13-17 – $140
Siblings ages 6-12 – $70
Siblings ages 0-5 – No charge
Please note that the sibling charge DOES NOT include housing. If you plan to stay on campus, please upgrade your room to the single-occupancy option so your child has a bed to sleep on.
