Parents and students are housed in separate rooms and within different residence halls during the program.
Students will share double-occupancy rooms with roommates assigned according to their orientation counselors. (Sorry, but we cannot accommodate student roommate requests.) Please note that students are required to sleep in the residence hall during the entirety of the program.
All students will be housed in either the Stephenson Complex or Rogers Hall during the summer Alive! session and randomly assigned a roommate of the same gender. This will give you the opportunity to get to know other new Cougs and get acquainted with the residence life experience. (Sorry, but we cannot accommodate student roommate requests.)
Incoming freshmen (including Running Start students) are required to stay in the residence hall. Transfer students can opt out of staying in the residence hall, but will need to complete a waiver upon check-in of the Alive! program.
Parents & guests
All parents will be housed in the Stephenson Complex during the summer Alive! sessions.
New Student Programs will place spouses/partners together (based on the information you provide in your registration form). If you are not attending with a spouse/partner, we will place you in a room with another parent participating in the program.
If you plan to attend with a friend and wish to stay with that person, please let our office know so we can ensure that you room together.
If you would like to upgrade your room to a single occupancy room, you can indicate the choice on your reservation form. New Student Programs will assess an additional $20 for the upgraded room choice.
If you would like to opt out of overnight accommodations, you will receive a $55 discount.
What to expect
Students and parents will be housed in separate rooms during orientation, so please make sure to pack accordingly.
Here are some tips to help you prepare for your two nights of dorm life.
- Each room has two extra-long twin beds, a desk and a closet. Bed linens and towels are provided in each room. Please note, the towels may be smaller than you are used to. Feel free to bring your own.
- The Stephenson Complex has communal restroom and shower facilities. We recommend bringing a shower caddie, a bath robe, and a personal towel. (Towels are provided, but your own towels are probably bigger and softer.)
- During the summer months, the rooms can become warm as there is no air conditioning in the Stephenson Complex or in Goldsworthy Hall. You may want to bring a small electric fan.
- Feel free to bring personal items that will make your stay more comfortable.
